THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Digital Games / Film & TV  31 Oct 2013

Thor: The Dark World hit Australian screens in November 2013 following a record breaking US release and providing further post-production box office success for Melbourne’s VFX industry.

The second instalment of the Thor franchise is set after the first Avengers film and represents the eighth instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Melbourne’s Luma Pictures provided extensive VFX elements to the movie – creations included an intricately developed stone character, allowing metal armour plating in the film to move independently and in concert with each other.

A mythical forest beast was brought to life to destroy city scapes and Luma was instrumental in creating the time/space shifting scenes used by the protagonists as they danced between realms, as well as bringing to life the ultimate dark enemy Aether in the epic world-shattering final battle scenes of the film.

Luma Pictures’ Executive Producer and founder Payam Shohadai said he was thankful of the great scope and creative licence Marvel allow their VFX studios.

Luma Pictures was able to secure this VFX engagement with the assistance of our Production Incentive Attraction Fund for Post Digital and Visual Effects.
