It’s true that every dog has its day as Australia’s favourite kelpie returned with the Melbourne Premiere viewing of Red Dog: True Blue.
The special screening was hosted by Film Victoria and Roadshow Pictures. The Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley was in attendance and congratulated the talented creative team behind the follow up prequel to Red Dog and highlighted the superb post production work completed in Victoria.
Five years ago Red Dog claimed the hearts of Australian audiences earning more than $21 million at the Australian box office and becoming the highest-grossing Australian film of 2011, less than two weeks after opening.
The next installment returns the home-grown Australian cast to the Pilbara to trace Red Dog’s origins.
Film Victoria provided Red Dog: True Blue with production attraction incentive support, ensuring that 100% of all post production work was completed in Victoria.
The feature demonstrates the collective talents of Victoria’s screen practitioners. Award-winning Melbourne post-production facilities worked on the feature including Soundfirm, and VFX studio Iloura who recently received an Emmy Award for the Battle of the Bastards sequence in Game of Thrones.
Soundfirm, led by Roger Savage who recently received the Screen Producers Australia lifetime achievement award, provided the high quality picture and sound post production while renowned Victorian based Composer Cezary Skubiszewski created the vibrant music score.
Red Dog: True Blue is produced by Nelson Woss, directed by Kriv Stenders with the screenplay written by Daniel Taplitz. Phoenix who appears as the new red dog, made a cameo appearance at the screening.
Film Victoria CEO, Jenni Tosi said “Five years ago audiences fell in love with Red Dog and the next installment promises to deliver the same warmth and humour. We applaud the skills, dedication and teamwork required to create this wholly Australian feature.”

The film will be released nationally in cinemas on 26 December.
