Melbourne International Film Festival in full bloom

Events / Film & TV  28 Jul 2016

Across 18 days, Australia’s biggest film event will celebrate all things screen, with a program including over 345 films, forums and talks and a special virtual reality program.

A festival highlight is the Premiere Fund program - a showcase of feature-length projects having their international premiere at MIFF.

Of the six films premiering this year, four received funding support from Film Victoria:

  • Opening night audiences were enthralled by The Death and Life of Otto Bloom – a brain-twisting and wildly inventive tale of love written and directed by Victorian filmmaker Cris Jones
  • Exploring the colourful history of Melbourne’s Mora family, Monsieur Mayonnaise is a bold and personal documentary directed by Trevor Graham
  • Feature debut from award-winning short film director Neil Triffett, Emo (The Musical) is a satirical and irreverent take on star-crossed love, sure to resonate with teenagers past and present
  • Powerful and confronting documentary The Family from Melbourne director Rosie Jones chronicles the investigation into one of Australia's most notorious cults

Film Victoria is delighted to have supported the MIFF Premiere Fund feature films and congratulates the talented teams behind these diverse stories.

MIFF 2016 runs from 28 July – 14 August 2016. For more details visit www.miff.com.au
