Film Victoria has announced an update to its Professional Attachment Scheme which provides early career screen practitioners with the opportunity to work on film and television productions as an attachee.
Through the scheme, productions that receive $150,000 or more through Film Victoria’s Assigned Production Investment – Film and Television (API – Film and Television) will be required to allocate 2.5% of their Film Victoria investment in their production budget to engage an attachee on the production.
Screen Resource Organisation Open Channel has been engaged to manage the Scheme on behalf of Film Victoria and will work with production companies to source an appropriate attachee.
Through the Professional Attachment Scheme attachees will receive on the job skills training, supported by a mentor and a tailored plan which monitors their progress over the course of the attachment.
Jenni Tosi, CEO, Film Victoria said “The Professional Attachment Scheme aims to grow the pool of screen practitioners in Victoria to meet burgeoning demand, particularly in positions where there skills shortages. There is no better way to transition into the industry than by learning on the job under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.”
“The scheme will provide early career practitioners with real skills outcomes, which should assist them to secure ongoing professional employment in the future.”
Acting Executive Director of Open Channel, Cristina Pozzan said “Open Channel is proud to be facilitating this invaluable program in partnership with Film Victoria.
Attachments are crucial elements in bridging the gap between emerging filmmakers and the professional industry. Open Channel welcomes the opportunity to both service professional productions shooting in the State, and also to provide Victoria’s emerging screen sector with more outcome-driven pathways into a career in the screen industry.”
