Company Summary

SAVAGE FILMS is a Melbourne-based production company established by Maggie Miles. The company develops and produces a range of screen content and has strong relationships with creative talent and other Australian companies. Maggie proved herself in the twelve years she spent writing, directing and producing throughout the Northern Territory of Australia. She was a company director of the NT-based Burrundi Pictures, a co-producing entity on Stephen Johnson's YOLNGU BOY, written by Chris Anastassiades and produced by Patricia Edgar, an Australian Children's Television Foundation, Yothu Yindi Foundation, and Burrundi Pictures production. Maggie was the Asia Pacific Screen Awards Children's Film Fund recipient 2015, for which she and Boori Monty Pryor are writing the screenplay for an Indigenous children's film, an adaptation of the award-winning children's book MY GIRRAGUNDJI, written by Boori and the late Meme McDonald. Maggie supports passion projects and directed the mid-length documentary DARE TO BE DIFFERENT narrated by Geraldine Doogue, produced with Annemarie Rolls, set at extraordinary special needs school that teaches through the arts. A special version of this documentary titled CLASS ACT! was created for ABC's COMPASS.
