Param Walia is an Australian film director and writer of Indian origin who hails from a family doctors in Kota, India. Despite the expectations placed upon him to follow a traditional path, Param nurtured a burning desire to become a visual storyteller, and thankfully, his family recognised and supported his aspirations. This encouragement propelled him to embark on a journey to conquer the world with his keen eye for filmmaking, leading him to Australia. Param's journey as a filmmaker began at Deakin University. Currently, Param is undertaking a Key Talent Production Placement by VicScreen, on a feature film "My Melbourne.” Param's recent achievements is his film "Parole," which garnered the Best Short Film award at the IFFM in 2022. The film takes viewers on a gripping journey within the confines of a next-generation prison facility. As a film director, his dedication to his craft, coupled with his passion for exploring the human condition, allows him to create thought-provoking and emotionally charged films. With an unpredictable storytelling style, Param delves into the depths of human nature, portraying character through real life scenarios. This approach allows him to connect with audiences on a profound level, challenging their perspectives and immersing them in thought-provoking narratives.
