Melbourne was abuzz with excitement and fabulous frocks for the Australian premiere of the much anticipated feature The Dressmaker on 18 October 2015.
Stars of The Dressmaker Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving and Sarah Snook were special guests at the screening, celebrating alongside producer Sue Maslin, director Jocelyn Moorhouse, and Rosalie Ham who penned the bestselling Australian novel.
The premiere screening was hosted by Film Victoria and Universal Pictures following the film’s successful world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2015.
Starring international talent Kate Winslet, The Dressmaker was filmed in Victoria over 10 weeks, with the fictional town of Dungatar entirely constructed in Mount Rothwell and additional filming taking place at Horsham and Docklands Studios Melbourne.
The film was supported through Film Victoria’s Development and Assigned Production Investment programs and the Regional Location Assistance Fund.
The Dressmaker was released nationally in cinemas on 29 October 2015 and has gone on to become one of the highest grossing films of all time at the Australian box office.
